An honest comparison

Trainzo vs Trainerize.

Comparison pages written by one of the two products deserve suspicion, so the ground rules here are strict: where Trainerize is better, this page says so first and plainly; their numbers carry the date we checked them; and if this page helps you conclude Trainerize is the right choice for your practice, it has done its job.

Trainzo is in early access: the coach dashboard is live, the client app is rolling out, and we are letting coaches in a few at a time. If that stage is too early for your business, that is a fair reason to choose the incumbent — and the comparison below is still worth five minutes.

The short version

Trainerize is the category incumbent: enormous feature surface, nutrition and payments and a branded-app option — with a pricing model where the features you actually want are tiered and sold as add-ons on top of the headline price.

Trainzo is deliberately smaller: the core coaching loop, priced by roster size alone, every feature on every plan, nothing sold separately.

If you need meal tracking or in-app client billing today, Trainerize wins today. If you want the core loop without the add-on arithmetic — and a platform where being a coach and someone’s client does not take two email addresses — that is what Trainzo is for.

Where Trainerize wins

  • Nutrition coaching. Meal tracking, macro targets and the MyFitnessPal ecosystem — Trainzo has none of this, on purpose, for now.
  • Getting paid by your clients inside the app. Trainerize does it today (as an add-on); Trainzo does not yet.
  • A branded app with your name on the store listing — a real offer Trainerize ships and Trainzo does not.
  • Track record. Fifteen years of edge cases found and fixed, and an ecosystem of integrations Trainzo has not built.
  • If you need any of these this month, choose Trainerize. Genuinely.

Where Trainzo wins

  • The price is the price. No feature tiers, no add-on arithmetic — the number on the plan is what you pay, and every plan has everything.
  • One identity. A coach who trains under another coach — or coaches themselves — needs no second email and no second account. Each coaching relationship is sealed from the others.
  • Free means free. Two clients, no card, no expiry — a working practice for a coach starting out, not a demo.
  • The library ships on every plan: 2,004 movements with instructions and cues, and 25 programs built from the strength-and-conditioning literature, ready to copy and edit.
  • Focus. Trainzo does the coaching loop — build, deliver, log, see — and does not carry a decade of features you will never open.

The identity difference, since no price list mentions it

Every platform in this comparison stores people. Trainzo is the only one that treats identity and role as different things: an account is a person, and a person can be a coach with a roster, a client of one coach, a client of three coaches, or all of it at once — one email, one login, each relationship sealed from the others.

It sounds abstract until it is your Tuesday: you coach twenty clients and you also train under a powerlifting coach. Elsewhere that is two accounts and a second email address. On Trainzo it is the same login wearing two hats — and your coach never sees your roster, and your clients never see your coach.
